Moore Photos Road Trip – 2013
As it was time for our annual holiday we decided to take a road trip and take in some of our great favourite activities – watching cycle racing and photography. As we had never been to the Giro d’Italia we had a look to see if we could manage to watch a stage which wasn’t too far off the beaten track. We went to watch stage 14 in Bardonecchia which was 7kms from the stage finish – all uphill from that point on. It rained all day for the cyclists and even snowed on the final ascent – they certainly didn’t look too pleased with the conditions. Needless to say the cameras came out and here are two of the photos which we took:
As soon as the cyclists had gone through we drove through torrential rain to a place called Fossana in the Cuneo District in Italy for one night. The next morning we woke up to the sun shining so had a photo walk around the town – great thing to do on a Sunday morning.
After a coffee it was time to head further south but instead of going on the auto-route we travelled the backroads. Luckily we went through a tunnel and didn’t have to drive over the snow bound mountains.
Nice was our next destination and allowed us to go on a few “away days” to Grasse (the perfume capital of the world) and Saint Paul de Vence – a medieval walled citadel.
We did get some time on the beach as well – great to get a bit of sun but of course Brian couldn’t resist being a bit arty!!
This morning we had an early start – up at 4.30am to take some sunrise photos at Villefrance-sur-Mer, not far from Nice but difficult to find those golden hour shots.
Thats all so far – tomorrow it is back in the car and heading north!! Another long drive but Pam wants to go to Champagne, I don’t know why!! We might be able to post another blog from there if the bubbles allow us to!!!!!!!
